Success Stories

I first met Chris and Deb through mutual friends. Our friends had recently started doing Cross-fit at CFK and since my body was in some serious need of some physical therapy it made sense that I give this Cross-fit thing a try.

It should be noted that I have never been the “athletic” guy, and over the years, lack of activity and a serious fast food addiction had taken its toll. When I started Cross-fit I could do 6-7 push-ups and sit-ups, didn’t know how to skip, and couldn’t do a pull-up to save my life and don’t even talk to me about squats!

I arrived at CFK full of nervousness and Gator-Aid (Chris told to be sure I was hydrated!) Chris put me through my paces during the work out, coaching and motivating me. It was tough to say the least. But I knew right away that if I was going to get myself into shape, Cross-fit was the vehicle to do it. I also learned a valuable lesson that night….. Don’t drink Gator-aid ever, even before a Cross-fit work out………

I signed up for an On-ramp and was quickly put through my paces and was soon doing regular WOD’s with the rest of the gang.  The Community at Cross-fit Kawartha is amazing.  Everyone is supportive and works with you to achieve your goals.  This makes going to the gym much more fun then the intimidation and exclusion felt that those big box places. I have met lots new people at Cross-fit Kawartha, many have become friends.

I am inherently lazy when it comes to physical fitness, so the class format and structured programming of Cross-fit is beneficial for me.  I do not have to worry about planning my work-out or motivating myself through the same mundane set of exercises on some machine. Instead, I get a structured plan that is making me stronger and leaner, coupled with coaching and motivation to keep me going and ensuring I stay safe.

I can’t say enough good things about Cross-fit Kawartha. In the short year I have known them; they have made a huge positive impact on my life. With the help of Chris and Deb, anything is possible. I have dropped over 45lbs, turned my “man-boobs” into “pec’s, my “gut” into “ab’s”, and at 37 years old I can honestly say I am in the best shape of my life.

Hey Deb n Chris!!  Just wanted to let ya know I took 13 minutes off my personal best for a half marathon 🙂 finished in 2:08:34!  Cheers to 4 weeks of paleo and the last 2 months at crossfit!! CrossFit Kawartha does work!!

Working out has always been a part of my life, but I have never had this much fun, or seen results like I am seeing with CrossFit. I am almost as strong and fast as I was 10 years ago. I love the intensity and competitive aspect at CFK.  It is not at all like going to a Globo gym – it is more like being part of a sports team, only we don’t shower together.

When I first heard Chris talk about CrossFit I could tell immediately how dedicated he was. I have known Chris & Deb for close to 20 years and have always known them to be fit. But something was different when they talked about CrossFit. They were so excited to share what they know about CrossFit with other people, excited to help people reach their goals. I have been doing CrossFit with Chris & Deb for about 5 months now and I am totally addicted to it. I knew after the 1st workout that this was what I needed to better myself. I never get bored with the workouts and am amazed at the progress I have made in such a short time. The feeling you get when you complete a WOD or realize that you have shaved 30 seconds off of your row time is amazing. Having Chris & Deb inspire me,encourage me and push me to be able to do things I never thought possible is so empowering. They have truly been awesome trainers & motivators.

CrossFit Kawartha is amazing and I know I can’t wait to see where I can go with this.

Crossfit challenges you in so many different ways.  It exposes your weaknesses and enhances your strengths. I like the anticipation mixed with trepidation as I come through the door at CFK and see the daily WOD.  It is familiar faces all reaching for personal goals.  It is the high of knowing you have given it your best.  It is totally addictive.

Crossfit is like yoga. Crazy right? Not when you think about it like this – Crossfit has allowed me to discover more about myself than I ever thought possible. Like yoga, Crossfit is all about “no judgement” and the idea that when you bring together a group of like-minded people you can achieve greatness.  Everytime I finish a workout at Crossfit Kawartha I feel calm, limber and blissed out – although getting to that point often includes buckets of sweat, determination and hard work. Crossfit – like yoga for badasses!

CrossFit is the most efficient total body/cardio exercise I have experienced. I accomplish more in my sessions with Deb and Chris than I could ever do on my own or in a gym.  Every day, I am amazed at how CrossFit has eased regular ‘mom’ activities like hurdling over a dog to catch a glass bowl slipped from a child’s hand or simply shovelling the lane-way.

To us CrossFit can be described as climbing mountains, soaking up the satisfaction at each plateau…… it leaves you invigorated, bursting with enthusiasm, to find a bigger mountain, challenge it and tackle it.

CrossFit in its own entity is a complex design. It methodically mixes hundreds of simple exercise groups that anyone can do.  The workouts are fun very rarely repeat.  With a little warm up, your heart is pumping and your breathing is heavy in just a few minutes. You finish each workout in just minutes, cool down and immediately start to wonder with some excitement what your next CrossFit challenge will be.

CrossFit is a great balance of strength and condition in a basic exercise space that I’ve never achieved in a the best equipped gyms.  Give CrossFit Kawartha 20 minutes and they will give you motivation.  You’ll want more – it is addictive!

CrossFit Kawartha teaches you the essential skills and intensity level needed to get the results you want. They show you the attitude, skills, drive and motivation is all within you, Crossfit simply brings it out.
